If WCS information is present in the FITS image header, SAOimage
versions from 1.12 track world coordinate systems as well as pixel
coordinates within the image. In versions 1.17 and after, spatial WCS
information is extracted from IRAF .imh (OIF) images as well. Several single
character keyboard commands have been added:
- b displays the current cursor coordinates in the B1950 (FK4) system.
- c prints to standard output the world coordinate (RA and Dec
in the current output format, latitude and longitude as degrees),
followed by the system, the image pixel coordinate, and the value of
that pixel, to standard output.
- d toggles between displaying the world coordinates in degrees
and hours:minutes:seconds degrees:minutes:seconds for equatorial coordinates.
- e displays the current cursor position in ecliptic latitude and longitude.
- g displays the current cursor position in galactic latitude and longitude.
- i displays the world coordinates in the system in the image header.
- j displays the current cursor coordinates in the J2000 (FK5) system.
- w executes the command set by -wcscom command,
substituting the world coordinate string for %s, the image pixel coordinates
for %x, and the filename for %f. The default setting is
sgsc_-ah_%s.
- F1-9 execute the commands set by -F1-9 command, with the same substitutions as w. The default settings
are:
F1:
| suac -ah %s
| F2:
| sgsc -ah %s
| F3:
| stycho -ah %s
| F4:
| sppm -ah %s
| F5:
| ssao -ah %s
|
In SAOimage 1.14 through 1.17, the b, j, and
g keys print the coordinates to standard output. In later
versions, they only change the tracking window, and the c key
prints whatever is in the tracking window.
